FAQs

GENERAL

Why did Silverchair decide to make this acquisition?

This agreement marks our commitment to investing in critical infrastructure and extending our service mindset to the full publishing lifecycle. We see this as an opportunity to take advantage of key synergies and points of connectivity:

  • Infrastructure investment: The technology powering ScholarOne is critical to millions of researchers, editors, peer reviewers, and publishers. It deserves investment and care as it is developed into a flexible and data-driven piece of publishing infrastructure.
  • Publisher-led development: We look forward to bringing our transparent and collaborative product development strategies to ScholarOne’s growth. We are focused on creating publisher-led technologies, improving workflows and identifying key growth opportunities that mirror your organizational goals.
  • Community growth: Upon closing, Silverchair will serve more than 600 publishers and societies. We’re looking forward to growing our community and offering our service-oriented culture to more publishers. Throughout this transition, we will do our best to ensure the level of service and collaboration you have come to expect does not change.

How long will any changes take?

This transition will be rolled out gradually and transparently, with ongoing collaboration with all of our clients, whether they already use ScholarOne or not. We are looking forward to the opportunity to engage all of our clients in discussions about improving infrastructure in scholarly publishing, and how their organization will benefit from additional integrations, end-to-end development, and more

What does this mean for ScholarOne customers and end users after closing?

Everything remains business as usual, and our priority right now is to focus on preparing for the initial phases of the integration of moving ScholarOne out of the organization of Clarivate and finalizing a roadmap for the future. We are bringing people over with the ScholarOne platform, so for now, your contacts will remain mostly the same. We’ll keep in regular contact and talk with you about any changes. We appreciate that acquisitions can be complicated, but please be assured we are here to support you.

What will happen to ScholarOne?

  • ScholarOne will form part of our renowned service across the publishing lifecycle. This partnership will give the scholarly publishing ecosystem:
    • Greater investment in critical publishing infrastructure
    • An independent, end-to-end partner who serves the needs of publishers first
    • A vibrant community who actively engages in the development of their technologies
    • An unparalleled level of service across the greater publishing lifecycle
  • Silverchair will serve as the overarching organization, which includes three brands: ScholarOne, the Silverchair Platform, and Sensus Impact. We are now mapping out the future roadmap of what this will look like, and where we should prioritize first. For now, it is business as usual.

What staff changes will happen as a result of the acquisition?

Our plan is to minimize the impact on users and clients as much as possible. For the foreseeable future, support teams are not changing. For mutual clients with multiple contacts, you will see us streamline with whom you need to interact over time. We will be in touch in advance of any changes. In the meantime, please talk with your existing account manager or email scholarone@silverchair.com.

Long term, we plan to build on our independent histories to co-create a new an even stronger shared culture. We hope these efforts will be felt and appreciated by those who partner with Silverchair and its products.
