The European Accessibility Act is here: now what?
March 5, 11am ET / 4pm UTCBy June 2025, the European Accessibility Act (EAA) will be implemented, mandating adherence to specific accessibility standards for companies interacting with EU citizens. Publishers (and all content providers) can take proactive steps to ensure compliance. This session will explore the comprehensive requirements of the EAA and provide actionable strategies for publishers. We will showcase examples from within our industry, but also how our colleagues in the educational market are handling the changes. Speakers will share tips on what to look for in their own processes and UI, such as:
- Describing links accurately to ensure clarity for assistive technology users.
- Ensuring video and audio content includes closed captioning and/or transcripts.
- Maintaining proper heading structures within self-serve pages and XML for logical content translation.
- Making PDFs and other files accessible, with guidance on creating accessible PDFs.
- Generating an accessibility statement to outline compliance and gather user feedback.
Integrity by Design: Smart Approaches to Pilots & Partners
April 16, 11am ET / 3pm UTCResearch integrity remains both a cornerstone of scholarly publishing as well as an increasing challenge, especially in the age of AI. In this webinar, we'll explore how scholarly publishers can strategically select and collaborate with partners to enhance their research integrity initiatives. The session will feature brief presentations from industry partners, offering a unique opportunity to compare different approaches and solutions. We'll then delve into practical considerations for implementing pilot programs, examine which features deliver the most value in detecting and preventing research misconduct, and discuss critical ethical considerations in research validation. The webinar will also address the evolving role of artificial intelligence in research integrity, including its potential benefits and limitations. Whether you're looking to establish new partnerships or optimize existing ones, this session will provide valuable guidance for publishers seeking to strengthen their research integrity framework while filtering out the noise.
The Data Revolution: Unlocking Value Across the Publishing Landscape
May 15, 11am ET / 3pm UTCData is transforming the publishing landscape. Is your organization ready? As leaders turn their attention toward maintaining, leveraging, and licensing their data, we'll bring together a panel to discuss:
- Data Ownership and Governance: Understanding where your data resides and who controls it is more crucial than ever. We'll examine best practices for data stewardship and compliance in an increasingly complex digital ecosystem.
- Data Interoperability: Siloed data is of limited use. Connecting customer and audience data and integrating data flows can enhance decision-making and open new opportunities.
- Building Data Competency: Whether through internal expertise or strategic partnerships, we'll discuss how publishers can develop the capabilities needed to effectively manage the complete data lifecycle.
- Uncovering New Revenue Streams: We'll examine how data analysis can reveal untapped markets and non-traditional users of scholarly content, opening up fresh opportunities for growth and monetization.
